CSIDE Client 5.0

CSIDE Client (C/SIDE: Client/Server Integrated Development Environment) is Microsoft’s classic development environment for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. It enables developers and consultants to design, customize, and maintain NAV solutions using the C/AL programming language and a set of object designers. The client connects to a NAV database (typically Microsoft SQL Server) and provides tools to model data, implement business logic, and build user interface elements, then compile and test changes directly in a running NAV environment. It’s commonly used in on-premises NAV deployments and partner development scenarios.

Key capabilities:

• Object Designer for tables, pages/forms, reports, codeunits, queries, XMLports, and menusuites
• C/AL code editor and compiler for business logic development
• Integrated debugger and code coverage tools for troubleshooting
• Import and export of application objects (.fob and .txt) to support deployment and source control workflows
• Schema synchronization for applying data model changes to SQL Server
• Run, test, and compile objects directly from the environment

Notes:

• CSIDE is supported in Microsoft Dynamics NAV versions up to NAV 2018. In Dynamics 365 Business Central, development has transitioned to the AL language and Visual Studio Code–based tools.
• Use requires a licensed Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation and appropriate permissions.

CSIDE Client is developed by Microsoft. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 0.1 and 5.0. The name of the program executable file is fin.exe. Works with fdb file type.
